Smartcity Wilhelmsburg

On the 35km² big mountainous island of Wilhelmsburg, the goals of the SmartCity movement are recognizable. Through more than 30 projects, this city realizes and embodies 21st century society in the areas of work, education and leisure. Within the scope of the IBA (International Building Exhibition) of 2013, numerous projects have been put in place that help realize these goals. These projects include Smart Material Houses that are self-built and expandable, the Hybrid house for living and working in the international garden show park, and floating houses, such as IBA dock and floating homes, made for living and working on the water.
