Trinational Agglomeration Basel
There are roughly 150 regions around the world where the borders of three cities meet at one spot, 48 of which are in Europe. Hardly any other European regions work as closely and successfully together as the trinational metropolitan Upper Rhine region though. Thousands of professional donors and shopping tourists cross the borders daily. EUCOR is a cooperation of universities from all 3 nations, and the Upper Rhine council has been promoting cooperation for over 20 years. The agglomeration of Basel is located centrally, and in addition to the Swiss cantons of urban and rural Basel, the German cities of Weil and Lorrach as well as the French St. Louis area are part of this unique settled area.
Over the course of only a few hours, this excursion takes you by way of public transport through three different countries and shows the advantages and challenges that come with cross-border interconnectivity: Excursion Trinational Agglomeration Basel
