Seminar on Nature Reserves in the Upper Rhine Valley

Around the world, the number of areas with untouched natural landscapes is steadily declining. The reasons for this are diverse, including the continued search for raw materials, the cultivation of agricultural products, pesticide use, and especially the expansion of settlements and roads. This has severely affected or caused the decline of ecosystems, and biodiversity is decreasing from year to year.

In Europe it became clear that some reevaluation must take place. Biotopes are being mapped, red lists of endangered animal and plant species are being created and, as a result of this, large-scale nature reserves, national parks, biosphere reserves and international wetlands have been identified as Ramsar areas in the tri-country region.

You can find more information to this in the PDF (in german): Seminar Naturschutz im Upper Rhine Valley
