Environmental Protection Expedition at Schauinsland

A Hike focused on the topics of Energy, Climate and Landscape

After the engaging scavenger hunt, the students demonstrate their knowledge and their ability to create and work in teams. The focus always remains on the connection with everyday life: How can I save energy, conserve resources, and change my consumption pattern in such a way that I can release less damaging CO2? The following topics such as wind power, solar energy, the greenhouse effect, nature and landscape, forest and climate change, sustainable food, etc. can be experienced during this diverse hike.

In addition, a climate monitoring station can be visited, where Europe’s longest carbon dioxide measurement series is being carried out in the atmosphere. This visit is subject to availability.

The tour is not too strenuous, though does require good shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Along the way, students can strengthen themselves with a Black Forest “Vesper“ meal.
