For all age groups, particularly children and young people, a power plant is an exciting place to learn everything about energy that is so important for the future. A tour through the plant’s own museum and an interactive presentation give you the history of electricity and telephone equipment first hand.
Visiting a transfer station makes it clear what huge distances electricity has to travel before we can plug into the socket at home.
In a room for experiments, under supervision, school children can figure out how electricity and magnetism function for themselves.
In a solar workshop for children and young people from 8 to 14 years of age, a teacher will instruct them on how to build small vehicles that they can take home afterwards. With larger school classes, up to 15 members at a time can attend the solar workshop, while the rest of the class visits other of the above mentioned activities.
In Basel there is a most unusual roof. It has a sod covering with green vegetation and, at the same time, produces solar energy, while bees are humming and birds are nesting – all in the middle of a large city!
We recommend early registration of 3-4 months.
